Plumbing Consultation & Second Opinions

Expert guidance before you commit to major plumbing work.

Sometimes you need judgment before you need a wrench. You have an estimate for a big job and you are not sure it is the right scope. You are planning a remodel and want to know what the plumbing really involves. You have a recurring problem that two or three plumbers have not solved. With more than 20 years in the field, North Service Plumbing consults on residential and commercial plumbing questions for homeowners, property managers, builders and remodelers.

A second opinion is the most common request. We look at the situation, tell you what we would do and why, and give you an honest read on whether the estimate you are holding is reasonable, oversized, or missing something. You get information you can act on, whether or not you hire us for the work.

For remodels and new builds we help plan the plumbing before the design is locked — where fixtures can realistically go, what a change costs in the walls versus on paper, and how to sequence the work. For persistent problems we work the diagnosis methodically instead of swapping parts and hoping.

What you receive is a site visit, a clear explanation of what we found, and practical recommendations. Ask about fees when you call so you know what to expect.

Planning plumbing changes for kitchens, baths and whole-home projects before design is final.

  • New construction plan review

Constructability and code review of plumbing plans before the build starts.

  • Troubleshooting

Methodical diagnosis of recurring or hard-to-find plumbing problems.

  • Commercial project scoping

Feasibility and sequencing input for property managers and general contractors.

  • Written summary

A clear recommendation you can share with a contractor, an ownership group or a spouse.

“Several times I have had plumbing needs for both new installation of fixtures for renovations and repairs of broken pipes, including septic, well, main stack and sump pump. In the purchase of my new home there were issues found that needed to be addressed. Not only were they repaired in a timely, professional and affordable manner, they also did everything needed to get permits and as a result all repairs were inspected and approved by our village. Marius is a true lifesaver. When something goes wrong, call Marius and he’ll be there on time and do the job right.”

Consultation: common questions

Who is this for?

Homeowners weighing a large estimate, people planning a remodel or new build, property managers scoping a commercial project, and anyone stuck with a plumbing problem that has not been solved after a couple of tries.

Is the consultation free?

It depends on the scope of what you are asking for. A quick look during a service call is different from a detailed plan review with a written summary. Ask when you call and we will tell you.

Do I have to hire you for the actual work?

No. The point of a second opinion is that you get usable information either way. If you do want us to do the work, we can.

Can you review plans for a new house or an addition?

Yes. Reviewing plumbing plans for feasibility and code before construction is one of the most useful things we do — problems are cheap to fix on paper and expensive to fix in a finished wall.
